GlyphBound
A gesture-casting wave game. You don't press buttons, you draw your spells. Still very much a work in progress, and I'm having a blast building it.
The idea
What if your spells weren’t buttons? GlyphBound is a roguelike where you trace a glyph with the cursor and the game reads the shape and casts it for you. That’s the whole concept, and it’s a concept that I found to be very fun when I was making this demo.(Hence why i probbaly have 5x hours playing this silly little game as compared to actually coding it lol).
Full disclosure: it’s still in its very, very early prototype stages. I’m building this one out, and showing you guys the ugly, buggy version, as to me it’s still fun enough to warrant giving out to people.
What’s actually working
- Gesture recognition on a canvas. It matches a mouse-drawn stroke to a known glyph in real time. Sounds simple, until you’re the one trying to make a shaky mouse-drawn “S” register as a fireball and not a shrug.
- The roguelike loop. Runs, encounters, and difficulty that ramps up the deeper you go.
- The version live in the arcade right now is the self-contained prototype. A more refined TypeScript rewrite is cooking in the background - coming soon (I promise)!
